WHEN IS THE EVENT?

WHEN CAN I REGISTER AS A GUEST OR VOLUNTEER?

Guest registration will open on November 1st, 2018 and remain open until we have reached maximum capacity. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.


Volunteer registration will open on October 1st, 2018.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE A GUEST?

The event is open to anyone with physical or cognitive special needs, ages 14 or older. We do not have specific guidelines for the eligibility of guests in relation to the legitimacy or severity of their disabilities.


IS NIGHT TO SHINE A FREE EVENT?

YES!! We are able to offer this prom night experience free of charge because Night to Shine is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and our incredible community partners!


WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Most of our guests and volunteers will wear semi-formal or formal attire. Ladies will most likely be in dresses, while men usually dress in pants and a nice shirt. Renting a tux is not necessary, but you may do so if you wish. We will provide boutonnieres and corsages for our guests!


CAN PARENTS AND/OR PARA-PROFESSIONALS ATTEND THE EVENING WITH THE GUESTS?

We welcome parents and para-professionals to be a part of the evening by joining our "paparazzi" to cheer on our guests as they make their way down the red carpet. Parents are also welcome to enjoy our "respite" area and relax during the event if they choose. We do, however, want to allow the guests to engage with their peers during the prom. Unless a family member or para-professional is registered to be a volunteer buddy, we ask that the event be for the Honored Guests and Buddies. If a guest requires constant monitoring, exceptions will be made. We want the experience to be fun and safe for everyone.


CAN GUESTS BE DROPPED OFF?

Many guests will choose to be dropped off while their caregivers enjoy an evening on their own and return to pick up a guest at 9:00pm. We provide a fabulous experience as well for caregivers who choose to stay onsite and invite them to join us for the evening.


WHAT TIME SHOULD GUESTS ARRIVE?

In order to create a check-in process that is as smooth as possible, guests will receive via email a scheduled arrival time prior to the night of the event. The evening will begin for everyone at 6:00pm.


WHAT TIME WILL "NIGHT TO SHINE" BE OVER?

The event will end at 9:00pm.


WHAT IS A GUEST BUDDY?

Each guest will be paired with a volunteer "buddy" as soon as they arrive and will spend the remainder of the evening with them. Their "buddy" will serve as a guide and friend throughout the night. The volunteer will help the guest around our building, assist with dinner, and of course be an excellent dancing partner!


DO BUDDIES FOR THE GUESTS RECEIVE TRAINING AND CLEARANCE?

All of our volunteers receive training specific to the event and everyone over 18 has undergone a background check.


AS A GUEST, DO I HAVE TO HAVE A BUDDY OR CAN I BRING A DATE, CAREGIVER, OR A FRIEND?

Every guest will be paired with a buddy, even if they are coming with a date or friend. We encourage everyone to have a great night as friends celebrating together.


WILL MEDICAL STAFF BE ONSITE FOR EMERGENCIES DURING THE EVENT?

Yes, we will have a trained medical team onsite to attend to guests needs.


WHAT IS PROVIDED TO EAT?

A catered plated dinner will be provided to all guests and their Buddies, and there will be a dessert table, too!

During the registration process, GUESTS will be able to share with us their special dietary needs.

Caregivers that choose to stay with us for the evening will be served a light meal and dessert in our special caregiver area.
